Just finished updating to the "latest and greatest" version. I hope that I am doing better with "keeping up" on submissions and the like for the site.

Having been "spammed" last night in the comments section of two stories I have had to further lock down a couple of items. You will now have to "log-in" (left column) before you can post a message or vote. I would prefer that this not be needed, but the last thing I want here is the latest viagra ad in a comment section of a story. You can read away, but to post you'll have to log in.

If you find anything that you want changed or is not working please let me know so I can see if it can be fixed.

LSPR brings the 2005 season to a close

The 2005 LSPR trip was one to remember. Between the honeymoon trip by Laurie and Larry, The legendary trips to the Uphill and some really great racing, this was a weekend that will long be talked about in the rally medical circles.

BMW closes the 'car' season at BIR

The season for Red Light Rescue drew to an end at BIR last weekend with the BMW club event. Highlights from the weekend were limited but do include a rollover at 7-8 on Saturday. Most of the rest of the weekend was limited to sweeping on a few corners on Saturday and one on Sunday. Despite best efforts on Sunday, 4 rounds of Root Beer in Rocinante and at least 2 broadcast from elsewhere on the track, and crosswords and word puzzles the "magic" seemed to be used up for the season. That's probably a good thing for participants and it made for a nice quiet day to close the season.

Quattro Sunday provides interesting challenges

Sunday started out with a light showing from the usual staff. At 8:00 we had 2 corners and three rescue staff. By 8:30 we were up to the required 6, but the track was scheduled to open at 8:30. Thankfully the Classroom session went long. It was starting to look like it was going to be an interesting day. When we went looking for flags we found that the "usual" sets had been taken for cleaning. So that left us really SHORT for the rest of the corners. We scrounged enough to deal with the situation but the lesson for this weekend is that the "status quo" is not always the status quo. As for Rescue, Jerry turned a hot lap en-route to a car at 9A Drivers right, and the only other problem being a car that stopped in the motorcycle turnout at 9. It was driven to safety once we discovered it had just a flat tire.
A very satisfying weekend with the trip up Saturday night and dinner at Prairie Bay.

Nord Stern Provides an entertaining weekend

What was scheduled initially as a two and a half day weekend ended up being a three day weekend. With an early start on Friday the Rescue staff didn�t turn any wheels for any on track incidents on Friday. This was not to be the case on Saturday. (more on that later.) Sunday brought an overcast day with what looked on a number of occasions to be a wet day as well, but the rain held off for the day with the predicted clearing taking place just as we were packing to leave.

Hey Guys! Well it has been a really hard week so far. I took Larry to Camp Ripley on 21 Sept 2005 and it pretty much tore my heart out. He arrived at Camp Shelby on 24 Sept 05 just after the brunt of hurricane Rita. He says that the damage was pretty devistating. I could hear the wind when I talked to him on the phone so it was still hitting them there. He said that the winds were suppose to get up to about 80 mph last night. You could also hear the simulation of gun fire and bombs in the background as we were on the phone. At one point it was lound enough that my ear was ringing for a few minutes. He will be at Camp Shelby for 5 months and at Fort Polk for 1 month and then Iraq for a year. I have his address I will post it as soon as I have it handy. I will stay in touch and keep you all updated as much as possible. Keep him in your prayers.

Thanks everyone I will miss you all. Hope to see you for LSPR

Storm causes early end to OFR/Headwaters meeting

Last evening (Wed. 10/20) the line of storms that passed thru the northern suburbs caused an early termination to the rally committee meeting. Just as the meeting started the winds picked up enough that Paul mentioned to Kristy (who was sitting next to him) that he had noticed the lights flicker twice and expected the power to go out any second. Kristy responded by noting that the winds had now picked up to very strong and that the rain was now strong enough to be audible inside the building. Being the only windows in the room were the equivalent of skylights it was not possible to see out. About this time the library announced for all visitors to start the move to the sheltered area just as the power went out.

Donnybrooke completes their season at BIR

The Donnybrooke Race School finished their season at BIR quietly. With only a couple of flat tows near the end of the day (gas, it's more than just a good idea) the day was uneventful. Lunch was shortened considerably as the day had started late because of the wet front straight. Coupled with the Division 5 finals having been run on Saturday and Sunday the front straight was ripe for a crash. Thankfully that was not the case. As for the lunch issue: we'll have to look for better options there as that translated to cold food and no real break.

Calendar Changes

Just a quick note to let you all know that there has been a change to the calendar. The first change is that the Track Addix day on the 12th is cancelled as there are only 20 riders signed up. That's not enough to cover costs for the event. TA will have us back next year so watch for that.

The second change is that the Eagle River Rally is being pushed back to June of 06. The DNR doesn't want us scarring Bambi in November so we'll have to wait till next June for that.

Laurie and Larry,"Tie the Knot"

Saturday September 3, Laurie and Larry made it official and got married in Park Rapids. The brief ceremony at Heartland Park was followed by lunch at the West 40. The afternoon was spent relaxing after some picture taking. With dinner out and a trip back to the "CC" camp for a bonfire, the day was most enjoyable.
