As of this writing the only club with an event left for the road course is the Quattro club. Nord Stern closed the season a couple of weeks ago with an incident free weekend. Rescue didn't even have to go get anyone for a flat tow during the event. for Nord Stern I think that was a first as there is usually someone that needs some kind of help at the event. BMW and PDS were not as incident free.
The BMW club provided Rescue one with most of the activity as there were two extrications and a flat tow during the event. The flat tow was a result of a missing bolt from a shift linkage and the car was back on track later that same day. The extrications came after the day on Saturday when Rescue One stopped at the gate on the way out for the day and had a drag racer inquire about the possibility of having a door knife. For those that don't know what that is, it is the tool used to pop door locks when one leaves your keys inside a car. The 2000 Mustang did have the keys successfully extricated and Rescue One headed off into the sunset. The second extrication came the following morning when at turn 6 Rescue One was approached by John Humpherys with a request for the same kind of extrication. Apparently when he got out he bumped the door lock button and realized after the door closed what he had done. Thankfully for him the passenger door had not been fully closed so even though it was also locked there was room between the door and frame to get a tool in and get to the lock lever on the door. Another successful extrication was completed on Sunday.
Monday almost went without a hitch as well with the rash of incidents coming late in the day. With rain threating all day it was expected that the problem was going to be on the main straight. With the morning on the short course having the usual rash of spins at 3 and 12 the day was no really different than normal. The rain held off even though the radar said it wasn't, and at about 16:00 the crap kinda hit the fan at once. It started with a BMW loosing a lower radiator hose in one and pulling off drivers left at 1A and was followed by a spec racer getting into the recently regraded dirt at 2 (note new #'s for old spots) and tearing the front end of the car up pretty bad. After cleaning up both items during the new session we had a driver pull off at the base of the tower with severe cramping from de-hydration. After getting him some water and having him checked by the ambulance he was fine. So it could be described as a splash, crash and ouch day.
With Quattro hosting the national event, this upcoming weekend should be fun. Apparently the are some folks coming from Germany and the factory to help with activities.
LSPR is also only a couple of weeks away as well so that will finish the season for 2009. Details of note will be posted.
