PCA Race weekend keeps things hopping

Current NewsThe PCA race weekend provided the Resue folks with a number of adventures over the 3 day event. With multiple incidents over the weekend there was more than enough things to do.

Friday was a pretty tame day for the rescue world with only a small amount of flat towing needed. Saturday things got far more interesting. During the qualifying session we had a car barrel roll at about 2A (reported as 2 times in the air) after striking the berm and ending up on its wheels leaking gas at 2A on the berm. There was also the usual number of flat tows, and Rescue One was dispatched on the pace lap for the enduro to pull a car off the main straight with the pace lap in progress. We cleared the drag return wall as the pack cleared 10. Later in the race Rescue One was also dispatched (hot track) to fetch a car from 2a and pull it off at 3. All in all a great day.

Sunday during the "Lunacy" race, Rescue One headed off from 10 to the pad drivers left at 9A to deal with a stall. As we pulled it thru gate "B" we had a second car pull up behind us and wish to exit there as well. As we were sorting all this out there was a report of a car in the trees at 8 and the driver was not moving. This required Rescue One to drop the car on the strap and head off to the gate at 9 to get to the incident. Driver was out of the car by this time and condition 0, but the effect of the crash was tio turn the lunacy race into a 5 lap sprint. not the "bang" they were looking for but a fun response for the rescue staff.

It should be noted that the first roll was shortly after the opening of both a vanilla and chocolate pudding cup by the staff in Rescue One and the second was right after we opened the second set. Hmmmm. new crap magnet?
Only testing will tell......
